Plant Care
-
Sunlight: Bird's nest ferns prefer medium to bright indirect light, but can tolerate low indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can burn the plant's sensitive leaves. The fronds will be more wavy in low light and flatter in high light.
-
Water: Water the fern every 1-2 weeks, or when the top 1 inch of soil is dry. Water around the base of the plant, avoiding the center. Overwatering can cause root rot, yellowing fronds, and a foul odor from the soil.
-
Humidity: Bird's nest ferns prefer high humidity, but can tolerate average indoor humidity. You can use a humidifier or place the plant in a tray of pebbles with water.
-
Temperature: Bird's nest ferns prefer temperatures between 65°F and 75°F, which is around the average home temperature.
